Bump in the Road

With so much time since my last blog posting one would hope that I have completed a large amount of work, unfortunately this is not the case. This is due to a couple of reasons but most of them are irrelevant to this project. The most important factor from all this is that my timeline is pretty shot. I must re-evaluate the work left to do and decide when I can complete this project with the resources I have. The one certainty from this is I will need additional man power to complete this in the desired time frame.

Fully Automatic Mayhem

This evening I finished all the house cleaning tasks that needed to be done for the Magical Mayhem project to begin. The repository is in place, and the directory structure setup. Getting the documentation onto the control server brought everything up to revision 5, which is fairly good for the amount of work that has been done so far. Setting up the initial build file was pretty easy especially using the Microsoft development environment.

Getting Specific

While this blog post is about 52 minutes after I stated it would be, I did manage to meet my last deadline. This means so far no deadlines have been missed for the programming department, which makes me smile. It also means that the first revision of the software specification is completed. I am very excited to get going on some actual application coding but I have a bit more house keeping to perform first.

One step forward, two steps back...

With the first draft of the functional requirements finished and revised my first deadline was reached nearly a week in advance. This is a very exciting situation because it means the beginning of the actual software specification for this project. With so much headway I was good and ready to nail down the large and small details of the application, my computer however had other ideas. It’s not that the hardware components suddenly turned to the dark side, nor did I have little gnome people unplugging cables and yanking on the peripherals.

The Mayhem Begins

While today is not the official start date of the Magical Mayhem project, I consider it the beginning of the project as a whole. With a deadline set and concepts created I am ready to sink my teeth into this game. My name is Noxy and I am the Program Lead for the Magical Mayhem team, and I will be blogging the progress of the Magical Mayhem application.
